Diane Sweet’s voice has been described as “powerful, vulnerable, and sensual”. She “embodies the music” communicating the message of love and angst while charming the audience with her charismatic personality and improvisational talents. Her “exception talent for phrasing” is at once graceful and transfixing.
Born and raised in New York City, Diane Sweet is a natural performer. Her childhood experience with staring roles in a TV series and in musical theatre set a foundation which she fortified with training in voice, dance, theater at: LaGuardia School of Music & Art, Herbert Berghof Studios, and at prestigious ballet academies: School of American Ballet, and The American Ballet Theatre. Diane has recorded commercial jingles, Jazz, Blues, and Brazilian music and has performed in Paris, London, and Italy while touring as a vocalist and vocal instructor.
Exemplifying her musical versatility, Diane’s repertoire includes American classics, world music, and her own compositions. From her unique take on traditional Jazz and blues, to her soulful interpretations of the music of Jimmy Hendrix and Antonio Carlos Jobim, Diane has long been winning diverse audience appreciation. She has performed with world class musicians at numerous venues in New York including, Zinc Bar Jazz Club, Smoke Jazz Lounge, Showman’s, The Bitter End, Smalls, BB King / Lucille’s, and Tavern on the Green to name a few.
